These Surprise Inside Oreo Balls are a festive and delicious treat perfect for holiday celebrations. Made with crushed Oreo cookies and cream cheese, each bite hides a candy cane-flavored kiss in the center, coated in white or chocolate almond bark and optionally garnished with crushed peppermint for that extra holiday touch.

Ingredients

Scale

Oreo Ball Mixture

  • 14.3 ounces Oreo chocolate sandwich cookies (36 cookies)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened

Filling

  • 30 candy cane flavored kisses, unwrapped

Coating

  • 6 ounces white almond bark
  • 6 ounces chocolate almond bark
  • Crushed peppermints or candy canes, optional garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare Oreo crumbs: Place the Oreo cookies (including filling) in a food processor and blend for about 2 minutes until they become a coarse sand-like texture without lumps. If the food processor is small, process in batches to ensure even texture. Set aside once fully processed.
  2. Mix with cream cheese: In a stand mixer or a medium bowl using a handheld mixer on medium-high speed, combine the Oreo crumbs with softened cream cheese until fully incorporated and smooth.
  3. Prepare baking sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside for placing the formed balls.
  4. Form balls with kisses: Using a 1 tablespoon cookie scoop, scoop out the Oreo mixture and slightly flatten it. Place one unwrapped candy cane kiss in the center, then shape the Oreo mixture around the kiss and roll into a smooth ball. Place on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat until all kisses are covered.
  5. Chill: Refrigerate the Oreo balls, uncovered, for 1 hour to firm up before coating.
  6. Melt almond bark: In two small heat-safe bowls, microwave the white almond bark and chocolate almond bark separately for 1 minute. Stir, then continue heating in 20-second intervals, stirring after each, until completely melted and smooth.
  7. Coat Oreo balls: Dip half of the chilled Oreo balls into the white almond bark and the other half into the chocolate almond bark, coating them evenly.
  8. Garnish: Immediately sprinkle crushed peppermints or candy cane pieces onto the wet coating for a festive look.
  9. Adjust coating consistency: If the almond bark thickens during dipping, microwave it for 15 seconds and stir until smooth again before continuing.

Notes

  • Ensure cream cheese is fully softened for easy mixing and smooth texture.
  • Use parchment paper to prevent sticking when chilling and coating.
  • Customize the coating by mixing white and chocolate almond bark or adding festive sprinkles.
  • Store completed Oreo balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • These bites are best served chilled but can be left at room temperature for short periods before serving.
