Jam Ingredients

  • 4 cups seedless grapes (washed and stems removed)
  • 2 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients: Place the seedless grapes, granulated sugar, and fresh lemon juice in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Begin heating on low to slowly dissolve the sugar while stirring frequently. Gently crush some of the grapes with a wooden spoon or potato masher to release their natural juices.
  2. Blend mixture: After the sugar has completely dissolved, use an immersion blender to partially blend the grape mixture, leaving some chunks for texture. Increase the heat slightly to bring the mixture up to a gentle boil.
  3. Simmer jam: Reduce the heat slightly and let the mixture simmer for 30 to 45 minutes. Stir often to prevent sticking and check the consistency by dropping a small spoonful onto a chilled plate. If the jam wrinkles when cooled, it is ready.
  4. Ladle jam: Remove the pan from heat and let the jam cool for a few minutes. Carefully ladle the warm jam into sterilized jars, leaving approximately 1/4 inch of headspace at the top of each jar.
  5. Seal jars: Seal the jars immediately while the jam is still warm. For longer shelf life, process the jars in a boiling water bath according to standard canning guidelines.

Notes

  • Use seedless grapes for a smoother texture and fewer seeds.
  • Partial blending leaves pleasant grape chunks for added texture.
  • Stir frequently during simmering to avoid burning.
  • Perform the wrinkle test on a chilled plate to check if jam is set.
  • Ensure jars and lids are sterilized to prevent spoilage.
  • Process jars in a boiling water bath for extended preservation.
