Ingredients

Scale

Bread and Spreads

  • 3 slices bread of choice
  • 1 tbsp. unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 tbsp. mayonnaise, divided

Vegetables and Seasoning

  • 2 romaine lettuce leaves
  • 2 tomato slices
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Meats and Cheese

  • 2 slices bacon, cooked
  • 1 thick slice cheddar
  • 2 slices turkey
  • 2 slices ham

Others

  • Long toothpicks

Instructions

  1. Toast the Bread: Using a toaster or a large skillet, toast the three slices of bread until they are golden brown, which typically takes about 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer the toasted bread to a plate to cool slightly.
  2. Butter and Assemble First Layer: Spread softened butter on both sides of each slice of bread. Then, spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on one side of one slice. Place romaine lettuce leaves and tomato slices on top of the mayonnaise, then season lightly with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Add the cooked bacon slices on top of the tomato.
  3. Prepare the Middle Layer: Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on both sides of the second slice of bread. Place this slice mayonnaise side down on top of the bacon. Then top this bread with the thick cheddar slice, followed by the turkey and ham slices, folding if necessary to fit the bread.
  4. Complete the Sandwich: Spread the remaining 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on one side of the third slice of bread and close the sandwich with the mayonnaise side down on top of the ham slices.
  5. Secure and Cut: Use long toothpicks to secure the sandwich layers in place. Cut the sandwich into 4 triangles for easy handling and serving.

Notes

  • For extra crispness, cook bacon in a skillet until very crispy before assembling.
  • Feel free to substitute turkey and ham with other deli meats of your choice.
  • To make the sandwich more nutritious, you can use whole grain bread.
  • Adding pickles or mustard can add additional flavor notes if desired.
  • Ensure the bread is not overly thick to maintain the classic club sandwich structure.
