Bread:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a standard loaf pan.
  2. Cream butter and sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 cup of sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Mix wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the milk to the wet ingredients. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fill pan and add topping: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top. In a small bowl, mix 1/4 cup of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter.
  6. Bake: Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
