Crispy and flavorful air fryer chicken wings tossed in a classic spicy buffalo sauce, perfect for a quick and delicious appetizer or game day snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Wings

  • 2 lb. chicken wings
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Nonstick cooking spray, for the air fryer

Buffalo Sauce

  • 1/4 cup hot sauce (such as Frank’s)
  • 4 tbsp. melted butter
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder

Serving

  • Blue cheese dressing, for serving

Instructions

  1. Season the wings: Pat the chicken wings dry and season them all over evenly with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. This ensures the wings are well-flavored before cooking.
  2. Prepare the air fryer: Lightly coat the inside of the air fryer basket or tray with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking during cooking.
  3. Cook the wings – first phase: Set the air fryer temperature to 380°F (193°C). Place the wings inside and cook for 12 minutes to start crisping the skin.
  4. Flip the wings: Remove the air fryer tray, carefully flip each wing to ensure even cooking on all sides, then return the tray to the air fryer.
  5. Cook the wings – second phase: Continue cooking the wings at 380°F for an additional 12 minutes until they are cooked through and crispy.
  6. Increase heat for final crisping: Raise the air fryer temperature to 400°F (204°C) and cook the wings for a final 5 minutes to achieve extra crispiness on the skin.
  7. Prepare the buffalo sauce: While the wings cook, whisk together the hot sauce, melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder in a large bowl until fully combined.
  8. Toss wings in sauce: Once the wings are cooked, immediately add them to the bowl with buffalo sauce and gently toss until they are evenly coated with the spicy, buttery mixture.
  9. Serve: Serve the coated wings hot, accompanied by blue cheese dressing for dipping to balance the heat with creamy coolness.

Notes

  • Pat the wings dry with paper towels before seasoning to help achieve crispier skin.
  • Adjust the amount of hot sauce and butter in the buffalo sauce to suit your spice preference.
  • For extra crispy wings, you can add a light dusting of baking powder before air frying (optional).
  • Remember to flip the wings halfway through each cooking phase for even crisping.
  • Blue cheese dressing can be substituted with ranch dressing if preferred.
