Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Base

  • 1 box fudge brownie mix
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 1 egg

Fudge Topping

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon chocolate extract

Decoration

  • Candy eyeballs (quantity as desired)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to get it ready for baking the brownies.
  2. Prepare Brownie Batter: In a medium bowl, combine the fudge brownie mix, water, oil, and egg. Mix everything well until you achieve a smooth batter.
  3. Line Baking Pan: Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with foil or parchment paper to prevent sticking and make for easy removal of brownies.
  4. Bake Brownies: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and bake in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Cool Brownies: Remove the brownies from the oven and leave them in the pan to cool completely, ensuring a firm base for the fudge topping.
  6. Melt Fudge Topping: Bring a small pot with 2 inches of water to a boil over the stove. Place a heatproof metal or glass bowl on top of the pot, ensuring it does not touch the water. Add the semi-sweet chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk into the bowl, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
  7. Add Flavor: Stir in the chocolate extract to the melted fudge mixture to enhance the chocolate flavor.
  8. Apply Topping: Pour the melted chocolate fudge evenly over the cooled brownies in the pan.
  9. Decorate: While the fudge is still wet, top the brownies with candy eyeballs in a fun, spooky pattern.
  10. Set Fudge: Allow the fudge topping to cool and set completely for at least 2 to 3 hours at room temperature before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute the candy eyeballs with other Halloween-themed candy decorations if preferred.
  • Make sure the brownies are completely cooled before adding the fudge layer to prevent it from melting and becoming uneven.
  • For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of sea salt on top of the fudge layer before it sets.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
  • If you prefer a thicker fudge layer, you can double the fudge topping ingredients accordingly.
