Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Seasonings

  • 4 medium boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Toppings

  • 6 tbsp ranch dressing (divided into 1/4 cup and 2 tbsp)
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese (sliced into 8 slices)
  • 6 slices cooked bacon (chopped)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (204 degrees C) to get it ready for baking the chicken.
  2. Prepare Chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Season both sides evenly with sea salt and black pepper for balanced flavor.
  3. Arrange and Dress Chicken: Place the chicken breasts in a baking dish, spacing them so they just barely touch but aren’t crowded. Spread 1 tablespoon of ranch dressing over each breast, then top each chicken piece with 2 slices of fresh mozzarella cheese.
  4. Bake Covered: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil carefully, ensuring the foil does not touch the cheese to prevent sticking. Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 20 minutes to cook through and melt the cheese gently.
  5. Add Bacon and Finish Baking: Remove the foil, sprinkle the chopped cooked bacon over the top of the chicken, and bake uncovered for an additional 10 to 15 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked and browned slightly on top.
  6. Rest and Serve: Let the ranch chicken rest for 5 minutes out of the oven to lock in juices. Drizzle the remaining 2 tablespoons of ranch dressing over the chicken before serving for extra creamy flavor.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches 165°F for safe consumption.
  • Fresh mozzarella can be substituted with shredded mozzarella if preferred.
  • If you want a crispier bacon topping, consider crisping it further in a skillet before sprinkling over the chicken.
  • Ranch dressing can be store-bought or homemade depending on your preference and dietary needs.
  • Letting the chicken rest helps retain juiciness and enhances flavor absorption.
