Bread Batter:

  • 1/2 cup sour cream

  • 4 oz (115g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven and Pan: Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Make the Bread Batter: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream the Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time. Mix in the sour cream, lemon juice, and lemon zest until well combined.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Prepare the Cream Cheese Swirl: In a small bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, sugar, egg yolk, and lemon juice until smooth.
