Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 3 Earl Grey tea bags
  • 1 tbsp dried lavender flowers
  • 2 cups water

Tapioca Pearls

  • ½ cup tapioca pearls
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

Others

  • ½ cup almond milk
  • 1 cup ice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tea: Simmer 2 cups of water and then remove it from the heat. Place 3 Earl Grey tea bags and 1 tablespoon of dried lavender flowers inside a tea infuser and steep them in the hot water for 5 minutes to extract their flavors.
  2. Cool the Tea: Remove the tea bags and the lavender infuser from the water and let the tea cool down to room temperature, allowing the flavors to mellow and blend.
  3. Cook Tapioca Pearls: While the tea is cooling, bring a small pot of water to a boil. Add the tapioca pearls and reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook the pearls for 5-6 minutes until they become soft and chewy.
  4. Sugar the Tapioca Pearls: Strain the cooked tapioca pearls and transfer them to a small bowl. Stir in 2 tablespoons of brown sugar until the pearls are coated and the sugar begins to dissolve. Let them cool completely to room temperature.
  5. Assemble the Drink: Evenly divide the sweetened tapioca pearls between two glasses. Add half a cup of ice to each glass, then pour the cooled lavender Earl Grey tea over the ice and pearls.
  6. Add Almond Milk: Finish off by topping each glass with ¼ cup of almond milk, stirring gently if desired, and serve immediately for a refreshing and aromatic milk tea experience.

Notes

  • For a stronger lavender flavor, increase dried lavender flowers to 1.5 tablespoons.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar to the tapioca pearls.
  • Use almond milk or any plant-based milk for a dairy-free option.
  • Keep tapioca pearls warm and covered before use to maintain texture.
  • Serve immediately after assembly to enjoy the best texture of pearls and the freshness of the tea.
