Ingredients

Scale

Wonton Wrappers

  • 60 wonton wrappers

Filling

  • 12 ounces ground pork
  • 3 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 ½ tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 ½ teaspoons grated fresh ginger
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch

For Frying

  • Vegetable oil (for frying or air frying)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Filling: In a small bowl, combine the ground pork, finely chopped green onions, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, grated fresh ginger, and cornstarch. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Assemble Wontons: Place 1 teaspoon of the pork filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Lightly brush the edges of the wrapper with water to help seal, then fold the wrapper over the filling to form a triangle. Press the edges firmly together and gently press out any trapped air to seal the wonton completely.
  3. Fry Wontons (Deep Frying Method): Pour vegetable oil into a pan to a depth of about 2 inches and heat it to 350°F (175°C). Carefully place a few wontons at a time into the hot oil. Fry them for 2 to 3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove the wontons with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  4. Air Fry Wontons (Air Fryer Method): Lightly brush or spray the outside of the wontons with vegetable oil to help them crisp. Arrange the wontons in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 3 to 5 minutes or until they are crisp and golden. Shake the basket halfway through the cooking time for even crisping.

Notes

  • Make sure to press out all the air from the wontons before sealing to prevent them from bursting during frying.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan or air fryer basket to ensure even cooking.
  • For a vegetarian variation, substitute the ground pork with finely chopped mushrooms or tofu.
  • Serve fried wontons with soy sauce, sweet chili sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce.
  • Leftover fried wontons can be reheated in the air fryer to restore crispiness.
