Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 3 pieces chicken breasts, cut into cubes
  • 34 teaspoons garlic and herb seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Pasta and Sauce

  • 1 pound pasta (penne, fettuccine, or your choice)
  • 1 jar Alfredo sauce (about 15 oz)

Bread Bowls

  • 6 pieces Kaiser rolls (or more if needed)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 34 teaspoons garlic and herb seasoning
  • 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Season and cook chicken: Season the chicken cubes with garlic and herb seasoning, salt, and pepper. Heat olive oil over medium-high heat and cook the chicken for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fully cooked and lightly browned.
  2. Cook pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain well and set aside.
  3. Prepare bread bowls: Slice the tops off the Kaiser rolls and carefully hollow out the centers to create bowls, leaving enough bread on the sides to hold the filling.
  4. Garlic butter brushing: Combine the melted butter with garlic and herb seasoning. Brush this mixture generously inside and along the edges of the hollowed bread bowls.
  5. Toast bread bowls: Place the bread bowls on a baking sheet and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 4-5 minutes until they are lightly toasted and fragrant.
  6. Combine pasta, chicken, and sauce: In a large bowl or skillet, mix the cooked pasta with the Alfredo sauce and the cooked chicken, stirring to coat everything evenly.
  7. Fill bread bowls: Spoon the chicken Alfredo pasta mixture into each toasted bread bowl. Sprinkle the tops evenly with shredded parmesan cheese.
  8. Bake filled bowls: Return the filled bread bowls to the oven and bake for an additional 4-5 minutes until the cheese melts and the bread edges become crispy.
  9. Serve: Remove from oven and serve hot. Optionally garnish with fresh parsley or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for added flavor and color.

Notes

  • You can use any pasta shape you prefer; penne or fettuccine works best for holding the sauce.
  • For a lower calorie version, try using light Alfredo sauce and whole wheat pasta.
  • To add more veggies, stir in sautéed mushrooms, spinach, or broccoli with the chicken and pasta.
  • To make the bread bowls easier to eat, consider cutting them into halves or quarters.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheat in a microwave or oven before serving.
