Dough and Cheese
- 2 (8 oz.) cans Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
- 5–6 mozzarella string cheeses, cut into thirds
Garlic Butter Coating
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 5 tablespoons finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
- 5 tablespoons finely grated parmesan cheese
- 1 clove fresh garlic, finely minced
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- Prepare Oven and Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
- Shape the Knots: Unroll the crescent roll dough and carefully separate it along the seams into four rectangles. Slice each rectangle in half horizontally. If the dough breaks apart, pinch it together gently. Place a piece of mozzarella string cheese in the center of each strip, then tie the dough into a knot around the cheese, folding the ends underneath to completely seal the cheese inside.
- Arrange and Bake: Place the knots about one inch apart in staggered rows on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until they turn a deep golden brown color.
- Make Garlic Butter Coating: While the knots bake, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, grated parmesan, and kosher salt in a large bowl and mix well.
- Coat the Knots: Once the knots are freshly baked and warm, immediately toss them in the garlic butter mixture, ensuring each knot is thoroughly coated with the flavorful sauce.
- Serve Warm: Serve the cheesy garlic knots warm for the best gooey and aromatic experience.
Notes
- You can substitute mozzarella string cheese with shredded mozzarella if preferred, but string cheese helps with even cheese distribution.
- Use fresh garlic for the best flavor; garlic powder can be used as a substitute but adjust quantity accordingly.
- For a spicier twist, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the garlic butter mixture.
- These can be reheated in the oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes to regain their crispiness.
- Make sure to seal the knots tightly to prevent cheese from leaking during baking.
