Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 7 cups Rice Chex Cereal (or store brand version)

Chocolate Coating

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • ¼ cup salted butter
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Add-Ins

  • 18 fun size Butterfinger candy bars, 15 crushed and 3 roughly chopped for garnish

Coating

  • 1 ¼ cup powdered sugar, sifted

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cereal: Add 7 cups of Rice Chex cereal to an extra-large bowl, setting aside space for coating.
  2. Melt Chocolate Mixture: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, ½ cup creamy peanut butter, and ¼ cup salted butter. Microwave on high for 1 minute, then stir thoroughly until the mixture is completely melted and smooth.
  3. Add Vanilla: Stir in 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract until fully combined in the melted mixture.
  4. Coat Cereal: Drizzle the warm chocolate peanut butter mixture over the cereal. Gently stir to ensure all pieces of cereal are evenly coated.
  5. Add Crushed Butterfinger: Stir in 15 crushed fun size Butterfinger candy bars to evenly distribute the crunch and flavor.
  6. Coat with Powdered Sugar: Transfer the coated cereal mixture into a large (2-gallon) ziplock bag. Add 1 ¼ cups sifted powdered sugar and shake well to evenly coat the mixture; alternatively, you can sprinkle the powdered sugar over the cereal and stir gently in the bowl.
  7. Dry and Garnish: Spread the powdered sugar-coated cereal out on a baking sheet to dry and prevent clumping. Just before serving, sprinkle the remaining 3 roughly chopped fun size Butterfinger candy bars over the top for garnish and extra flavor.

Notes

  • For best texture, use the ziplock bag method when coating the cereal with powdered sugar to minimize mess.
  • This snack can be stored in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
  • If you prefer a smoother peanut butter flavor, use creamy peanut butter rather than chunky.
  • Make sure the chocolate mixture is fully melted but not overheated to avoid scorching.
