These Bacon Jalapeno Popper Cheese Balls are a delicious and easy appetizer that combines cream cheese, cheddar cheese, bacon, jalapenos, and spices, rolled into crispy bread crumbs and baked to perfection. Perfect for parties or game day!

Ingredients

Cheese Balls:

  • cream cheese – 8 oz
  • shredded cheddar cheese – 1 cup
  • bacon – 6 slices, cooked and crumbled
  • jalapenos – 2, seeded and finely chopped
  • green onions – 2, chopped
  • garlic powder – 1 teaspoon
  • salt – 1/2 teaspoon
  • pepper – 1/4 teaspoon

Coating:

  • bread crumbs – 1 cup
  • oil – for frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  3. Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, chopped jalapeños, and garlic powder. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  4. Form the Cheese Balls: Using your hands, take a small amount of the mixture and roll it into a ball, about 1 inch in diameter. Place each ball on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Coat the Cheese Balls: In a separate bowl, combine breadcrumbs and any remaining bacon bits. Roll each cheese ball in the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated.
  6. Bake the Cheese Balls: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese balls are golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove the cheese balls from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, leave some of the jalapeno seeds in.
  • These cheese balls can also be fried for a different texture.
