Crispy and flavorful Air Fryer Cauliflower coated with a spiced panko breadcrumb mixture, lightly drizzled with olive oil for a healthier, crunchy snack or side dish. Perfectly seasoned with smoked paprika, garlic, onion powder, and a hint of cayenne for a kick.

Ingredients

Scale

Cauliflower and Coating

  • 2 cups small cauliflower florets
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1½ teaspoons smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Heaping ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 large egg

Additional

  • Extra-virgin olive oil (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the coating mixture: On a rimmed tray, combine panko bread crumbs, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and sea salt thoroughly. In a small shallow bowl, lightly beat the egg until smooth.
  2. Preheat the air fryer: Set your air fryer to 370°F (188°C) and allow it to preheat while you prepare the cauliflower.
  3. Coat the cauliflower: Dip each cauliflower floret into the beaten egg to coat evenly, then roll it in the panko mixture until fully coated. Place the coated florets on a large plate.
  4. Arrange and oil the florets: Drizzle the coated cauliflower pieces lightly with extra-virgin olive oil. Place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure to leave some space between each piece to ensure even cooking. Avoid overcrowding; work in batches if needed.
  5. Air fry until crispy: Cook the coated cauliflower in the air fryer for 9 to 12 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crisp. The exact cooking time may vary depending on your air fryer model.
  6. Serve: Once cooked, season with additional salt or spices if desired, and serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can spray the coated florets lightly with cooking spray instead of drizzling olive oil.
  • Ensure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket to get the best crisp results.
  • This recipe works well as a side dish, appetizer, or snack.
  • Adjust cayenne pepper quantity to control the level of spiciness.
  • Use fresh cauliflower florets cut into small, uniform sizes for even cooking.
